Every skein is hand dyed in small batches. This means that while each skein within a colorway is dyed using the same process and acid dyes, each one will be unique slightly. All batches are set with acid and rinsed to remove any excess dye, but I still advise hand washing in cool water to avoid any bleeding and to keep your knits looking their best.
